Q & A
Why choose L A Banks Photography?
I strive for 3 things: comfort, excellence, and affordability. These three elements set L A Banks Photography apart from the rest. Clients need to feel comfortable and safe in the environment they are in as well as with the photographer. I communicate with clients to build up trust but also to get some natural poses and a few smiles out of everyone.
Why is photography important to you?
Photographs are moments in time captured forever. As time moves forward, the photographs remain until the end of time. I believe capturing the true beauty of a person or place is truly special, because at no other time ever again will it be the same. I urge those who don't care for photography to take that 1 picture, or jump in to a photo because that instant will never return.
What is your photography style?
I would classify myself as a Fine Art Portrait Photographer. I try to stray away from "cookie cutter" photography and create portraits that portray a story. I gather all the elements of story telling in photography to create something unique.
Styling: Though I do not provide wardrobe for most sessions, I can send you ideas on what to wear to look your best.
Light: I can shoot both indoors and outdoors. I have the necessary equipment to accommodate any situation to ensure the light is just right!
Posing: Posing can be tricky and often feel unnatural. I talk clients through posing and positioning to ensure you look your best.
Editing: The photo session does not end once the camera stops clicking. Post session editing includes using Lightroom and Photoshop to turn the picture into a photograph. I use high end retouching on every photo to ensure my clients are looking their best. My non-destructive technique allows me to fix blemishes, dark spots and some stray hairs.
I have never hired a professional photographer before. What should I do? What should I expect?
You can contact me through just about any social media platform or via email. Let me know exactly what kind of shoot you are looking to do. If you'd like to book a session, I'll send out an invoice and contract. An initial non refundable payment and the contract reserve your session slot. The session will not be booked until I receive both. It's recommended to try and book at least 2 weeks in advance, but I understand last minute changes or plans and I am usually pretty flexible. After the session, I will post a few sneak peeks on Facebook or Instagram. Turn around time is 30 days or less.
What are your rates?
My rates range from $45 to $200. I set my rates according to time for shooting and edit time. To book the session require 50% initial payment, but the rest is not due until the photos are ready for delivery. At this time I only accept cash and major credit cards for payments.
Do you have payment plans?
Yes! Almost all sessions have the option to pay in bi-weekly or monthly increments. Mini sessions are not have payment plans. My payment plans are flexible and affordable, so you decide how much you want to pay and how often. However, the finished photos will not be delivered until the session price is paid in full, so I encourage clients to book sessions well ahead of time!
I'm not from Elmira, do you travel?
Yes! I will travel within 50 miles of Elmira, NY at no extra cost. If you are outside of Elmira in New York, New Jersey or Pennsylvania I can travel to you. Gas compensation price would be included in your invoice.
